Among their various duties, the Secretariat organizes the AACME meetings, prepares and disseminates all official communication from the AACME, responds to questions or complaints about the AACME, provides training for site visit teams and AACME members and supports initiatives undertaken by the AACME. All members of the Secretariat staff are ex-officio non-voting members of the AACME.

How is the AACME managed?

The business and affairs of the AACME are managed by the AACME Secretariat comprised of professional and administrative personnel. These same individuals also comprise the Secretariat of the CACMS. The Secretary nominally dedicates 18% of a workweek to AACME business (20% of a 60% position), whereas the Assistant Secretary nominally devotes 6% of a workweek (10% of a 40% position).

The administrative Secretariat staff have full-time positions, but nominally devote 20% of their respective time to the work of the AACME.
